        China Pacific Insurance (Group) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as CPIC) is an integrated insurance holding company restructured from China Pacific Insurance Company Limited, which was incorporated on May 13, 1991. Headquartered in Shanghai, it is a leading domestic insurer listed both in Shanghai and Hong Kong.

        With a vision of achieving industry leadership in healthy and steady development, CPIC adheres to the philosophy of high-quality development, focuses on insurance, and seeks to deliver steady business development through bold steps in transformation. It has been listed among Fortune Global 500 for 8 consecutive years, ranking 220 in 2018. For 2018, it reported operating revenue of RMB354.363 billion, of which, gross written premiums amounted to RMB321.895 billion, up 14.3%. Group net profits reached RMB18.019 billion, up 22.9%.

        In 2018, the company initiated Transformation 2.0 in an all-around way, in a bid to shift the mode of development and improve business mix. This marked the beginning of a new stretch of journey towards high quality development. With sound corporate governance, it won Directors of the Year 2018 Awards in Collective Board Category and Individual Director Category by the Hong Kong Directors Institute.

        CPIC enhanced its customer service capabilities through digital innovations, providing comprehensive insurance and wealth management solutions to over 126 million customers. It set up the big data platform of customers, using AI technology for information inquiry, underwriting and claims management, which enhanced customer experience and projected a customer service brand image of responsibility and care. CPIC Life and CPIC P/C both won top rating in regulatory assessments for the past 2 consecutive years, i.e., AA for customer service and A for business operation, setting a new industry benchmark.

        CPIC is committed to China's national strategies, economic development and people's well-being. It provided insurance cover to the Belt & Road Initiative with business in 112 countries, and integrated property and casualty insurance solutions with sum assured totaling RMB35 billion for the 1st CIIE. It participated in government-sponsored critical illnesses programs, benefiting over 95 million people, launched China's first tax-deferred pension plan, and achieved substantial progress in the construction of "CPIC Home" retirement communities.

        A drop of water put aside, an ocean of help in times of need. CPIC is committed to fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities, and has paid out a total of RMB500 billion in claims and benefits in the past 10 years. The company was deeply involved in the national poverty elimination effort, exploring long-term mechanisms for poverty alleviation with CPIC's characteristics, with focus on China's most impoverished regions. In 2018, it invested RMB21.3 million in an earmarked fund to fight poverty, and participated in a host of programs covering 4.29 million households below the official poverty line, and provided RMB1.36 trillion worth of risk protection to China's poverty-stricken areas.
